How it Works
Openings in the
bottom section of the feeder (shroud) align with seed ports, providing birds
access to the seed. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight
automatically forces the shroud down, closing the seed ports. Squirrels and
large birds are foiled but not harmed in any way.

Seed Tube
Ventilation System
Damp and
decaying seed decreases bird traffic and can spread disease. Most transparent
bird feeder seed tubes trap solar energy just like a greenhouse. The air in
Squirrel Buster Plus rises and escapes through patented water-proof vents at
the top of the feeder. The escaping, heated air is replaced by fresh air
entering through the seed ports at the bottom of the tube. The birdseed remains
fresh, attracting more birds.
Perching
Options- Adjustable Posi-Grip Perch
Thick,
adjustable-length perches with textured surfaces provide a secure and
comfortable grip for birds.
Attract small
birds such as Chickadees and Finches (while deterring larger birds like
Grackles and Starlings) by shortening the perches. Perches can also be extended
just enough to attract medium-sized birds including Grosbeaks and Woodpeckers.
Selective
You can exclude large nuisance birds such as Grackles, Starlings, and Doves by
using variable length perches and the adjustable spring mechanism.
Cardinal Ring
System
The Squirrel
Buster Plus can be used with or without the Cardinal Ring System, an optional
posi-grip ring designed especially for Cardinals.
Cardinals prefer
to grip a thick-textured perch and, because it's awkward for them to turn their
short necks to feed, they prefer to face their food source directly. The
Squirrel Buster Plus Cardinal Ring System allows Cardinals to eat facing the
seed from a secure and comfortable perch.

The Need for
Clearance
Remember it's a
squirrel's weight that triggers the closing mechanism. If a squirrel can reach
over from a nearby foothold and avoid placing his weight on the feeder, he can
access the birdseed. To overcome this problem, allow for at least 16 in./40 cm.
of clearance around the feeder. This will force the squirrel to climb onto the
feeder and trigger the closing mechanism.
Where Do I
Locate My Squirrel Buster Plus?
You can locate
this bird feeder anywhere and be squirrel free. Position it to get great
close-up views of your favorite birds. Hang your squirrel Buster Plus over a
window, in a tree, on a deck, a fence, in your garden, on the side of your
house, from a rain trough or over sliding doors.
Use brackets, extension hooks and tree hooks to hang your feeder at the
recommended clearance. Hooks and brackets are available at birding stores,
garden centers and hardware supply stores.
Squirrel Buster
Plus prevents squirrels from eating expensive seed, scaring the birds and
damaging your feeder. Enjoy being free of squirrel problems, but please
remember, squirrels also need to eat. For the price of a few peanuts, or
inexpensive cracked corn, squirrels will be happy to entertain.
